The
Philadelphia Black Women’s Health Project SisterReach
program, funded by the AIDS Activities Coordinating Office (AACO),
offers a range of services for women, primarily
African Americans, who are HIV positive and/or living with
AIDS. Dedicated
to helping women overcome the challenges of receiving or
continuing medical care, we provide treatment advocacy in
the North, North Central, West, Southwest and Tioga areas of
Philadelphia.
Treatment
advocacy consists of:
|
Referral
services for medical treatment, housing, food, clothing,
drug/alcohol rehabilitation, etc. |
|
Counseling
and prevention case management against re-infection of
self and others. |
|
Outreach
to facilities and locations that are highly populated
with HIV positive individuals. |
|
Community
education via workshops & trainings. |
|
Support
services. |
As
the epidemic of HIV/AIDS continues to rise in the Greater
Philadelphia region, Blacks,
especially women, account for 71% of AIDS cases reported
within the past twelve months.
Better treatments have led to a decreasing number of
people dying from AIDS in this country.
This population represents an increasing need for
continued treatment and care services for HIV-infected
individuals
Join
SisterReach and
connect with African American women all over the city to
battle this deadly disease!
