Breast Health Outreach and Sisters in Touch

 

Reports to:     Executive Director

The Project Director for the PBWHP Sisters in Touch is responsible for administration, development and oversight of all aspects of the breast cancer and cancer outreach of the Philadelphia Black Women’s Health Project.  The Project Director hires and supervises the Outreach Coordinator, volunteers and other staff responsible for the educational, support and social activities of the Sisters in Touch Breast Health and Breast Cancer Support Program. The Project Director maintains a presence in the PBWHP office for the breast cancer outreach, and keeps office staff informed of all pertinent activities and events.

 

Major components of PBWHP’s Breast Health Outreach include the Sisters in Touch Breast Cancer Support Group(s), workshops and trainings including the Learning to Live with Breast Cancer Series, the pink ribbon campaign in October, workshops, the building of partnerships and other events as outlined in the timetable for the program year.

 

SELF-HELP FACILITATOR

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

Responsible for planning, execution, evaluation and reporting for major breast health programs including:

 

bullet

Planning and execution of major fundraising and outreach events

bullet

Coordination of a group for participation in the Race for the Cure

bullet

Liaison to community partnerships (Komen, LBBC, etc.)

bullet

Responsible for providing leadership and management to Sisters In Touch staff

bullet

Daily maintenance of correspondence, including telephone contacts

bullet

Responsible for reporting to granters, PBWHP Board and Executive Director and others as requested

bullet

Assists in the preparation of proposals

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

·        Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in an oncology setting, and/or graduate degree with 1 year experience in an oncology setting.

·        Grant writing experience

·        Proven written, verbal communication and computer skills;

·        Good analytical and problem solving skills;

·        Ability to multitask
